Overview

Regulatory Services Division is composed of two business units, namely Licensing Business Unit and Regulatory Business Unit. The Division is responsible for implementing the C_BRTA’s core mandate of regulating access to the commercial cross-border road transport market.

The Licensing Business Unit is primarily responsible for the administration and maintenance of the permit regime, the Regulatory Business Unit is tasked with the development of policy, development of mechanisms to ensure implementation of transformation initiatives, advancing the execution of the regulatory mandate and the delivery of value add services to both internal and external stakeholders.

This Division is also tasked to ensure compliance to the Agency’s empowering legislation and other related legislation, as well as the provisions of the bi-lateral and multi-lateral road transport agreements.

The Law Enforcement function checks if commuters and freight drivers are in possession of valid cross-border permits, and monitors drivers’ compliance with the law and road safety regulations by carrying out vehicle inspections along border-corridor routes.
